CB Refrigeration Ltd Work With Masterchef Finalists On The Tempus Foods Project
Masterchef has produced some well-known names over the years, two of which include Tom Whitaker and Dhruv Baker. Both appeared on the show in 2010, Tom being a finalist and Dhruv winning the competition. Since then, their passion for food has continued to grow, with their latest venture being in the art of charcuterie, pates and terrines. The pair will be going ‘behind the scenes’ perfecting how to butcher produce and the process of how to store, cure, and preserve various meats under the company name of Tempus Foods. This is where CB Refrigeration Ltd come in.
Working for MTCSS with Ayjay Group, CB Refrigeration Ltd have provided the vast array of cold storage units needed to get the ball rolling for Tempus Foods. Ayjay Group provided the electrical services including controls and lighting for the project. Working to tight deadlines due to the nature of the products (produce needs to be frozen as soon as possible), each company needed to work to strict schedules to remain on time for the grand opening.
Tom is already a veteran in the catering industry, having opened and established his restaurant, The London Dining Concept which he describes as a ‘fine dining experience, uniquely tailored to the imaginative and aspirational ideas of his clients.’ Dhruv also has his own gastropub, The Jolly Gardeners, as well as a published book, Spice: Layers of Flavor. Tempus foods will no doubt be as successful and rewarding for the pair and their customers.
CB Refrigeration, with assistance from Ayjay Group provided a range of bespoke solutions including a freezer/chiller room, curing/holding room, preparation room and dual compartment coldroom. Due to site restrictions, the application included high ambient units which were installed on a bespoke frame internally. A range of evaporator designs were used to deliver the correct air flow and heat transfer for each individual space. Along with control systems a bespoke monitoring system was installed to the curing room due to the sensitive and vulnerable nature of the products.
In line with Tom and Dhruv’s vision, CB Refrigeration Ltd, MTCSS and Ayjay Group successfully installed the cooling systems and thus assisting bringing Tempus Foods from an idea to a reality.
